Tottenham v Man United Betting Tips – 14th May 2017

Tottenham Hotspur are synonymous with White Hart Lane. However, Spurs are leaving the famous old stadium for their huge new home which is already taking shape on the same plot of land. Having gone 18 home games without defeat, Spurs have just one more game to seal an amazing final season at home with the visit of Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Man United were the final visitors to West Ham’s old home, Upton Park, last season. Although, they won’t want to be reminded of that night. United threw away a lead to lose 3-2 and the bookies believe that they’ll suffer the same fate against Spurs. However, Jose Mourinho’s men have no problem playing the role of party poopers and Tottenham must overcome the disappointment at missing out on the Premier League title once again.

As Spurs move first to Wembley and then into their new stadium, there are many reasons to be optimistic. The team have gone from strength to strength since Mauricio Pochettino became manager and many would argued that they’ve been the strongest team in the country for the second half of the season. That’s not to say that Spurs are without their problems. They have yet been unable to turn their quality play into a trophy and there is always the chance that their best players will be poached by other clubs due to their relatively strict wage policy.

Jose Mourinho has never been a fan of Tottenham but you get the feeling he would swap their problems for Man United’s right now. United are supposed to be one of the best teams in the country year on year but they’re highly unlikely to even make it into the top four this season. Without winning the Europa League, this will go down as poor first season in charge for Mourinho. But can he give the travelling United fans something to cheer about in north London.

Betting Predictions

  • Tottenham to win - It’s going to take the summer for Tottenham to fully overcome their failure to catch the league leaders for a second successive season. That is not to say that they won’t be able to rally themselves for one last big performance at White Hart Lane. They’ve been close to faultless at home this season and should be able to cap off their unbeaten run at the Lane by winning at odds of 3/4 with BetVictor.
  • Tottenham to keep a clean sheet - Amazingly, Man United are the only team in the Premier League who have not scored away from home against any of the top six. Mourinho’s men did, at least, secure clean sheets away to Liverpool and Man City. They’ll look to frustrate Spurs by sitting deep but all that’s likely to do is limit their own attacking play. So, have a bet on Tottenham keeping a clean sheet at 27/20 with Ladbrokes.
  • Harry Kane to score first - Countless legends of Spurs’ history have been made at White Hart Lane and Harry Kane is one of the most recent. His goals have been crucial over the last few seasons and Kane could be the man to make the difference against by scoring first at 7/2 with Coral.
