Real Madrid v Manchester United Betting Tips – 8th August 2017

Real Madrid and Manchester United meet in the annual UEFA Super Cup this Tuesday evening. The UEFA Champions League & Europa League winners go head-to-head in Skopje, Macedonia to crown the ultimate European champions.

Zinedine Zidane’s men, who stormed to a stunning La Liga and Champions League cup double last year, head to the Philip II Arena as the favourites with the bookies. Los Blancos are no strangers to the Super Cup, having lifted this trophy twice in the last three seasons. Zidane’s troops are also the Champions League favourites this term, and they will certainly be the team to beat in Europe.

Standing in their way on Tuesday, however, are Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd, who have their own aspirations of lifting this trophy. The Red Devils only have one Super Cup triumph to their name, when they beat Red Star Belgrade 1-0 at Old Trafford in 1991. Mourinho’s men were cup specialists last year though, as the former Real Madrid manager guided the Manchester club to the FA Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League.

These two last met competitively in the last 16 of the Champions League back in 2013. Los Merengues came out on top back then, winning 3-2 on aggregate. The pair most recently squared off in a friendly in USA last month, with United winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw in California.

Even though the Super Cup is not the most prestigious of trophies on offer, it’s definitely a cup both Real Madrid and Manchester United will be looking to win. We should be in for a fascinating matchup between these two European giants in Macedonia on Tuesday.

Betting Predictions

  • Real Madrid to Win - First and foremost, Real have been pretty unstoppable in Europe over the last couple of years, and they will take some stopping again this time around. We’re backing Madrid to retain their Super Cup, with Betfred’s 5/6 being your best price.
  • Real Madrid to Win and Both Teams to Score - We may fancy the Spanish side to prevail in Skopje, but that does not mean we can’t see United causing them problems along the way. With the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard all chomping at the bit, the Red Devils will be a threat going forward in Macedonia. Check out Sky Bet’s 13/5 for Real to win and both teams to score.
  • Real Madrid to Win 2-1 - In terms of the correct score, Betfair’s 15/2 for a 2-1 Madrid win is standing out. In the last competitive matchup between the two, Zidane’s men ran out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford.
  • Real Madrid to be Winning at Half Time and Full Time - We also believe there’s good value in Bet365’s 7/2 for the Champions League holders to be winning at half time and full time. When Real take a lead into the break, they are extremely tough to stop in the second period.
