Crystal Palace v Hull Betting Tips – 14th May 2017

With two rounds of Premier League football to go, there is just one more relegation place to be decided. There are three teams still fighting to avoid the drop and two of them, Crystal Palace and Hull, meet at Selhurst Park early on Sunday afternoon.

As is common with teams towards the bottom of the Premier League table in early May, both Crystal Palace and Hull have changed managers during the season. Sam Allardyce and Marco Silva have both had major impacts since taking over at their respective clubs and, no matter what happens, both sets of fans will want to hang on to their man in charge. There’s a chance that both Allardyce and Silva will keep their teams in the league but they know a win on Sunday would help their chances and hurt their opponent’s.

Those Crystal Palace fans who made the trip to Manchester last weekend weren’t expecting too much from their game at the Etihad Stadium. Equally, they weren’t expecting to be humbled 5-0. Unfortunately, that’s just what happened as the injury weakened Eagles failed to cope with the passing and movement of Man City. Allardyce has said that he hopes last weekend’s performance was a one off but privately he’ll be more than a little worried about an equally slack defensive display at Selhurst Park.

While most people thought that Palace would get beaten by City, few thought that Hull would lose at home to already relegated Sunderland. The Tigers have generally been excellent at home since Silva took over from Mick Phelan and their defeat was felt even more keenly given that Swansea beat Everton later in the day. Silva must now rally his troops for what would be only their second away win of the campaign or, chances are, they’ll be playing in the Championship come August.

Betting Predictions

  • Crystal Palace to win and both teams to score - Given that Crystal Palace have Man Utd on the last day of the season and Hull have Tottenham, this really is an absolutely critical match for both clubs. With so much on the line, you’d think that both teams would give their all for the win and at least get on the scoresheet. Palace have got major problems at the back but they do have some very good attacking players and that is what should tilt the match in their favour. So, have a bet on Crystal Palace to win and both teams to score at 16/5 with Betfair.
  • Over 3.5 goals - Allardyce and Silva will be praying for a clean sheet but there is little chance of either team securing one. In the closing stages especially, this game should have the feeling of a cup tie with both teams playing for their survival. You should be expecting chances galore so a bet on over 3.5 goals could pay dividends at 13/5 with BetVictor.
  • Andros Townsend to score - Andros Townsend is something of a polarising figure at Selhurst Park. Some fans love his direct dribbling and shooting while others believe he is a weak link in their attack. Whatever you think of Townsend, he’s scored important goals before and could come up with the goods once again at 3/1 with Coral.
