Arsenal vs Leicester Betting Tips – 11th August 2017

Can Arsenal follow up their Community Shield win with a victory over Leicester? The Gunners host the 2016 Premier League champions in the opening match of the new season, with both hoping to kick off with a win. After missing out on the Champions League birth last season, the Gunners need a good campaign following Arsene Wenger’s new deal at the Emirates. Can he finally turn the mood around?

Landing new forward Alexandre Lacazette was a huge boost for the Gunners, who needed a marquee name to bring to the club. The fact that he’s behind Olivier Giroud in the France pecking order is odd, but the former Lyon forward seems like a quality addition to the squad. However, is it really goals that Arsenal need to inject into their team?

Their display against Chelsea last week was promising, and it’s surely enough to worry Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare. Having taken over the club on a permanent basis this summer, the former assistant to Claudio Ranieri has a big job on his hands. With no European football and a new £25million striker, the Foxes should really be pushing for the top eight this season.

However, will it be Kelechi Iheanacho making a splash at the Emirates this weekend? We see this being the Lacazette show, following his impressive display against Chelsea. His link up play and movement were both strong, while he came close to opening the scoring there. Leicester may have added more steel to their defence, but we see them struggling to keep the new Gunners forward in check.

This should be an Arsenal win to kick off the new season, but we can see an exciting tie here. They’re 4/9 with Betfred to claim the points, and we think that’s a fair price. With two sides who have added new forwards, it’s certainly worth considering both teams to score at 8/11 with Ladbrokes ahead of the opener too.

Betting Predictions

  • Lacazette to score any time - After a lethal few years in France, we see Lacazette making a great impression when he arrives in the Premier League. Leicester should struggle to deal with him, so we’re backing him to score any time at 10/11 with Coral.
  • Arsenal and over 2.5 goals - This Arsenal side seems to have plenty of goals in their side, while they’re liable to concede with Laurent Koscielny suspended. That makes a win and over 2.5 goals look like value at evens with Sky Bet.
  • Arsenal and both teams to score - With the Arsenal defence having problems, you might want to go for slightly better odds of 15/8 with Bet365 for Arsenal to win and Leicester to score. Given the Foxes have bolstered their frontline, we see them grabbing a goal.
  • Lacazette to score first - Lacazette was involved from the start against Chelsea, and we see that being the case here too. He looks like good value to score first at 16/5 with Betfair.
