Arsenal v Brighton and Hove Albion Betting Tips – 1st October 2017

The Premier League welcomes in October with a bumper day of football and no fewer than three televised matches for you to enjoy. The first offering comes from the Emirates Stadium as Chris Hughton takes his Brighton side to north London to face Arsenal.

Brighton go into this match on the back of an important win over a Newcastle side who are expected to be scrapping to avoid relegation. They were good value for the win, but their only goal scorer of the game, Tomer Hemed, has been given a three match ban for throwing an elbow.

Arsenal have no such problems ahead of this clash with all their top players available. Most importantly for Arsene Wenger, he has a fit Alexandre Lacazette whose brace on Monday saw the Gunners beat West Brom. One thing Arsene Wenger will have to contend with is fatigue as his side play in the Europa League following on from the Monday night game.

Even with Arsenal's European exploits, they will be expected to come away from this clash with a comfortable victory. The pressure is all on the home side, but will Chris Hughton's Seagulls be able to spring a surprise?

Betting Predictions

  • Arsenal/Arsenal Half time/Full time - Arsenal have recovered well from a defeat against Stoke earlier on in the season and Wenger's side look to be hitting their stride. They should have more than enough to deal with the threat of Brighton and with the outright on a home win not offering much, backing Arsenal to win and lead at half time is a better choice at 5/6 with Ladbrokes.
  • Arsenal to score over 2.5 goals - Arsenal will want to impress in front of their own fans and they were very comfortable against West Brom last Monday in front of the Sky Sports cameras. With plenty of attacking options and Alexis Sanchez returning to form, they have the potential to make life very difficult for the newly promoted side. The Gunners are 21/20 with Coral to hit three or more goals this weekend.
  • Glenn Murray to score - If Chris Hughton's side are to get amongst the goals this weekend, one likely source will be experienced striker Glenn Murray. Last week saw Tomer Hemed score the only goal of the game, but with the Israeli suspended then responsibility will fall to Murray to find the back of the net. The former Palace man can be a real handful for defenders and he is 5/1 to beat Petr Cech on Sunday.
  • Alexandre Lacazette to score first - Lacazette has hit the ground running since his summer switch from Lyon and he will be a fan's favourite if he carries on as he's started. The Frenchman has netted in his first three home games for the north London outfit, equalling a club record in the process. He could well be one of the signings of the summer and you can back him to carry on his home comforts scoring spree by bagging the first on Sunday at 3/1 with Bet365.
